Abstract

The globalization of sexual service markets has also shaped the dynamics of sexual economies within the Roma community in Skopje. Drawing on nine years of ethnographic research and five in-depth interlocutor narratives, this study examines how transnational mobility, shifting market demands, and European regulatory and organizational models have reconfigured local practices. The findings indicate that a significant number of sex workers from this community have migrated to Belgium and France, integrating into broader European markets, while those who remain in Skopje increasingly operate according to organizational patterns and service models aligned with Western European contexts.
