About the Journal

Aim and scope:

Ревија за социјална политика / Journal of Social Policy aims to advance critical academic and public debates on contemporary social policy issues at the local, national, regional, European, and global levels. The journal publishes original scholarly articles in English across all areas of social policy and related interdisciplinary fields.

The journal encompasses themes related to labour markets, living standards, social protection and social insurance, education, health, housing, family policy, social assistance, social transfers, poverty and social exclusion, inequality, anti-discrimination, and broader issues of social justice and social development.

The Journal welcomes original research articles, policy analyses, comparative studies, and contributions examining the implications of social policies and practices in diverse socio-economic contexts. Particular emphasis is placed on innovative and evidence-based research with comparative, regional, or international relevance.

The Journal particularly encourages interdisciplinary and comparative contributions addressing contemporary social challenges and policy developments in Southeast Europe within broader European and international contexts.

Type of Articles:

The Journal publishes: Research Articles, Review Articles, Comparative Studies, Case Studies, Policy Analyses, Survey Papers, Book Reviews. 

History of the Journal: 

Ревија за социјална политика / Journal of Social Policy was established in 2008 with the aim of promoting scientific, critical, and evidence-based analyses in the field of social policy. The journal continues the tradition of academic and professional discussions initiated by the earlier periodical “Social Policy: Magazine for Theory and Practice,” published in Skopje between 1973 and 1985.

From 2008 to 2011, the Journal was published in Macedonian. Between 2012 and 2021, it was issued in bilingual Macedonian-English editions. Since 2022, articles have been published in either English or Macedonian, with English abstracts provided for all contributions.

Between 2008 and 2014, the Journal was co-published by the Faculty of Philosophy in Skopje and the Friedrich Ebert Foundation. Since 2015, the sole publisher has been the Faculty of Philosophy at Ss. Cyril and Methodius University in Skopje.

DOIs have been assigned to all articles and issues since 2013. Since 2024, the Journal has been hosted on the official OJS platform of Ss. Cyril and Methodius University in Skopje. https://journals.ukim.mk/index.php/socpol
