Dear colleagues,
We present the new, nineteenth volume of the international online Slavistics journal Philological Studies. Members of this year's main editorial board, in agreement with other editorial boards of the journal, decided to dedicate the first issue to the topic Aspects of youth cultures and youth literatures in the Slavic world, the emphasis being on the exploration of youth cultures and literatures in the actual and past Slavic contexts. Authors, who consider these issues from national and comparative perspectives, deal with the following subjects: languages and discourses of youth literatures, youth discourses, Slavic youth literatures (classics and contemporary authors), illustrations and picture books, evaluation of youth literatures, trends in contemporary youth literatures, youth literary systems, intercultural mediation and translation of youth literary texts and reception in the target culture; contentious issues in youth literature. In the first issue, the articles are divided into five permanent sections of our journals, most of which pertain to the section Literature in an Intertextual Context.
The second, non-thematic issue combines papers on Slavic literatures, languages, cultures and cultural history. We have collected papers of numerous authors from several European university centres and we would like to take this opportunity to thank them.
This volume has been prepared by the editors from the Faculty of Arts of the University of Ljubljana (Slovenia) with the support and in cooperation with our standing partners: the Institute for Macedonian Literature of the Ss. Cyril and Methodius University in Skopje (North Macedonia), the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences of the University of Zagreb (Croatia) and the Faculty of Philology of the Perm State University (Russia) and the Institute for Literature and Arts Belgrade (Serbia).
